Bulkley Valley Education Connection

Bulkley Valley Education Connection is a distributed learning program offered by School District 54 (Bulkley Valley) to parents and students who are seeking an alternative to classroom based instruction for kindergarten to Grade 12 students. Teachers will work with parents and students to design a program suited to each individual student. Students enrolled in a distributed learning program usually take their educational program from home. They may enroll full-time or part-time or they may combine a distributed learning program with classroom-based instruction.

The Ministry has indicated that school boards are to be responsible for the educational program of all students enrolled in their district. It is the responsibility of the School District to:

    * ensure that a member of the BC College of Teachers supervises each student's educational program;
    * ensure that all education programs meet the Required Areas of Study for Primary & Intermediate students and the Graduation Requirements for Graduation Program students; and
    * assess student progress, produce formal report cards, and complete permanent student record cards.
