We would like to invite you, or a member from your organization, to participate in our October Education Forum.
This Education Forum will be a community dialogue about the future direction and plans for K-12 public education here in the Bulkley Valley. Provincially many initiatives and reforms have been put in place to support today’s students and how we respond as a district is critically important. The conversation and dialogue will be guided by Superintendent, Chris van der Mark and Assistant Superintendent, Mike McDiarmid.
Building on our previous conversation, we will be engaging in discussions involving the following:
- The redesigned curriculum;
- Changes to communicating student learning;
- Changes to the graduation program;
- SD54’s continued plans for personalization and choice.
There are many exciting ideas emerging from schools and educators from across the district as we embrace these new directions in education. We look forward to sharing these with our stakeholders and exploring other possibilities to enhance engagement in teaching and learning in our schools.
We look forward to your participation in this conversation.
The education forum will take place in Smithers and in Houston on Thursday, October 20th and Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 respectively.
